Curry Upset
The relationship between Knicks’ center Eddy Curry and head coach Mike D’Antoni continues to boil over. Big man Eddy Curry has voiced frustration with his lack of playing time.
After being banished from the line-up most of last season and early this season, Curry made a comeback earlier this season not so much to be utilized but rather showcased in hopes to draw a trade suitor. Curry has a player option next season which extends his contract beyond the summer of 2010 making him an obstacle to the financial freedom needed to go and get a max-deal player such as Lebron James.
Curry has had a history characterized by laziness and a bad attitude which are two traits not exactly at the top of everyone’s wish list. Add to that the fact that he’s overpaid, and it’s just not an easy guy to move.
When asked about fitting in, Curry said, “I feel like I do [fit in].” He added, “[But] it’s not my team. I’ll keep approaching it as if it is the right fit for me as long as I’m here. They have the power to change it. Until they decide I’m not the right fit by moving me, I’m assuming I’m the right fit.”
To be perfectly frank Eddy, for $10.5 million per, you’re not the ‘right fit’ anywhere. As much as the Knicks would like to move him and as badly as he’d like to play elsewhere, it seems more likely that the situation will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future—that is unless Isiah Thomas becomes the GM of another team…..
